The www.plates.co.nz website offers you the facility to purchase a new personalised plate online with your credit card. Be assured, security is one of our highest priorities.
Our credit card order facility uses technology called SSL - Secure Sockets Layer. This means that our servers and your PC encrypt (scramble) everything that you enter into your computer on the order page, such as credit card and address details. Because it is encrypted, other computers are unable to make sense of it, therefore keeping this information private. Your order will be processed using our secure server. You will know the page is secure, as the padlock icon will display.

Personalised Plates Limited (PPL) recognises the trust you are placing in us through your dealings with us. We are committed to the protection of your personal information. Our policies comply with our legal obligations and are intended to protect your privacy in respect of any personal information that you may provide to us. You have a right to access and request correction of any personal information that is collected and held by PPL. What information we collect
When you purchase online at www.plates.co.nz or purchase through our 0800 PLATES (0800 752887) and in particular when you subscribe to receive our "Friends & Family Offers" information from PPL, we ask for your:

- Gender
- Contact phone number(s)
- Company (if required)
- City/region
- Town/suburb
We may also use cookies to collect the following information when you visit www.plates.co.nz:

Any personal information you provide to Personalised Plates will be held by us and will be used for management purposes to process your order or enquiry (and any future orders/enquiries you may make) and to market products and services that PPL currently offer or may do in the future.
Any information collected about your use of the www.plates.co.nz website will be used to determine which pages are the most popular and where customers spend most of their time on our site. We use this information to improve our site.

The information collected about you; which is held or used by PPL may be collected by:
- PPL staff members
- Contractors to PPL e.g. PPL representatives at Trade Shows or Events

How your information is stored
Information held about you (for example, your plate purchase history or your subscription to offers 8. promotions) is held in a database. The database is protected by a firewall as well as host-based security. The data is not transmitted over the Internet once it has been stored in the database except when transferring to LicenSys Government Plate Manufacturers. When PPL transfers this data it is through a secure network and it will be in an encrypted form.
While we do all we can to guard your privacy, no data transfer over the Internet is 100% secure. When you share your information with us, it is at your own risk. There are ways you can help maintain the secrecy of your information for example always close your browser when you have finished your user session and ensure others cannot access your personal information and emails if you use a public computer.
Junk mail or unsolicited email
You will only receive emails from PPL if:
- You subscribe to our Friends and Family Offers Program. Our Email Newsletters will keep you informed of the latest offers, current promotions, new product launches at PPL and also Media Releases.
- You request information about our services when you choose to contact us. You will not be added to a mailing list of any kind and will only receive e-mails relating to the matter that you have contacted us about.
How you can unsubscribe from the Email Friends & Family Offers service?
You can choose to unsubscribe from our Email Friends & Family Newsletters service by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Email Newsletter that is sent out.
Disclosing your information
We understand how important it is to keep your personal information private, so we will disclose personal information we have about you only in certain specific circumstances, when:
- You agree to the disclosure;
- We use it for the purposes we collected it; or
- Disclosure is required or authorised by law.
We may also disclose information about you to Government agencies as part of our statutory obligations e.g. Licensys Government Plate Manufacturer.
